Fees and Referrals

Referrals (no GP referral)

You can access our services without a GP referral. Please call us on 0429 951 933 or complete our online contact form to book an appointment.

Referrals without a GP Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) will incur the full cost of sessions. You may be eligible for a private health rebate if you have coverage.

Referrals (Medicare rebate)

Your GP can complete a mental health assessment and prepare a GP Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) prior to referring you to Maple Street Psychology. Please bring your referral along to your first appointment or ask your GP to directly fax it to us on (07) 5301 8193.

FAQs

A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) covers services for specific mental health conditions. Your GP will assess you to determine if you are eligible for services under a MHCP. Having a MHCP means you are eligible to receive a rebate on psychological services.

If you have a valid MHCP you are eligible for up to 10 rebated psychological consultations over a calendar year.

You can access services without a GP MHCP however you will be required to pay the full fee for services.

Our sessions are supported by Medicare when you have a referral in the form of a Mental Health Care Plan either from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

From December 31, 2012 eligible people can receive:

  • 10 individual counselling sessions in a calendar year. Your referring doctor will assess your progress after the first six sessions
  • 10 group therapy sessions in a calendar year

We are NOT a bulk billing clinic, which means there is some out of pocket expense when you attend sessions. This will vary depending on your situation. If eligible, Medicare will rebate a large portion of the cost.
